When Needlepoint Meets Vintage Collectibles
I was tickled pastel when I saw that the vintage Lenox Spice Village was trending on social media (apparently due to viral thrift hauls). Not only do I run this blog about needlepoint, I’m also a vintage and antique dealer. I started out on Etsy and eBay, but I recently transitioned to a small, curated auction house. It’s like eBay but focuses more on local pickups. My website is Jade Rooster Auctions, if you want to take a look there.
In this post, we explore why the Spice Village still has such an impact, where stitchers can find the original pieces, and why home décor motifs make such inspiring needlepoint projects. Find your next stitch.
About the Spice Village by Lenox
The Spice Village is a set of ceramic spice jars shaped like tiny houses, with pastel colors and charming architectural details. Originally produced in the 1980s and 90s, these little cottages have made a comeback with modern collector’s interested in cottagecore, vintage kitchens as well miniatures.
Originally, the Lenox Spice Set was a monthly subscription that ran for 24 months. Because of the recent, viral interest in the series Lenox has reintroduced them but selling as a complete set this time. There also other pieces like a creamer, sugar, butter dish, and even ornaments.

Why Home Décor Motifs Are Trending in Needlepoint
Designers across needlepoint, cross-stitch, and hand embroidery are leaning into recognizable household motifs — tea tins, cottage houses, classic brands, and vintage kitchen art. Think vintage Pyrex and their colorful patterns. In my opinion, this has to do with popularity of thrifting for social media either as content or reselling or both.
Because each of the Victorian styles houses are distinct, they translate beautifully into stitched motifs.
Where to Find Lenox Spice Village Pieces
For vintage pieces, look for the usual suspects like eBay, Etsy, and even Replacements.com. Brand new pieces are sold through Lenox’s website, but apparently they sell out right away. You can sign up for their mailing list, but good luck!
If you already love the Lenox Spice Village, a needlepoint canvas inspired by the set makes a beautiful complement to:
- A kitchen gallery wall
- A cottagecore dining nook
- A cozy craft room
- A gift for someone who collects vintage kitchenware
- Pairing a stitched house with the ceramic house it’s based on? Absolutely adorable!
Here is a small roundup of designers who create needlepoint canvases inspired by the Lenox Spice Village. I will update this post if I come across more.
