For better social media pictures or turning pro, check out the Shotbox Photo Studio Kit from Michaels.
Whether it’s for yourself or a gift for the stitcher in your life, check out this photo studio kit. It is called Shotbox, and it’s distributed by the We R Memory Keepers brand at Michaels. The Shotbox is a small photo studio that is collapsible for easy storage and offers a lot of accessories. It also has an interesting backstory, so keep reading!
Do you see how the sides dip in a little bit? That’s not a structural flaw! It was designed that way to help the light bounce to focus on the product better.
The Shotbox was developed by Aaron Johnson who has a long history in the arts and crafts world. He also was involved in creating that famous cutting machine Cricut. The Shotbox Photo Studio is marketed for those working on side hustles, main hustles, or simply social media, but the creator suggests there are many more home uses like digitizing old photos. You can read more on the Shotbox blog.
While reading up on the Shotbox, I found it interesting to discover that it began as a Kickstarter campaign. Supporters helped bring a prototype to a great final result. Then it was picked up by We R Memory Keepers (American Crafts) to be distributed by stores like Michaels in the US. It became popular enough to be sent worldwide. Cool!
It can be an inspiring story for those of you who are working hard to advance your own craft especially since a lot of stitchers become designers and start their own small shops. It does have a high-ish price point, and I know when starting out we are hesitant to purchase something like this for ourselves. So I suggest it would make a great gift. If you’re stitcher already has the Shotbox, there are a lot of accessories to add too.
