The work of Couleur Tourterelle a collector and designer of reproduction samplers is now available on Creative Poppy.
Couleur Tourterelle (color turtledove) is the design moniker of French stitcher Meriem Chauvet. From the Creative Poppy website: “…is an expert stitcher and collector of antique 19th and early 20th century samplers, mostly of French and European origin.”
Meriem’s reproductions are indeed exquisite, but make sure to check out her blog where she shares the rich history behind her collections. She searches whatever records she can find – birth, marriage, etc. – to find out more about the little women that stitched samplers as part of their education. Please head to her blog linked below to read about Marie Depaix 1868. It is a bittersweet telling that Meriem starts off with the motif of an ostrich 🙂
Couleur Tourterelle signed up with Creative Poppy in May of 2021 and is currently sold exclusively through them. Creative Poppy is an online seller of cross-stitch patterns only as PDF downloads. Other designers signed with them: Barbara Ana Designs, Lesley Teare Designs, Shannon Christine Designs among others. See more at their website: creativepoppypatterns.com
