Where to Find Plastic Canvas Patterns

Do people even make anything with plastic canvas anymore?

Yes we sure do!

Minecrafts blocks I made for my son several years ago.

I made the pattern from an online skin editor: Novaskin Resource Pack Creator.

Make sure to check out a local needlework shop (LNS) near you. Sometimes you have to drive a bit. Aunt Kelley’s closest one is about 30 minutes away, but that’s okay. Plan to stay awhile! There is lots to look at and the staff are going to be a good source of knowledge.

Those big, brick-and-mortar, craft stores are going to be the quickest way to get plastic canvas supplies and the best place to get large sheets of canvas for those bigger projects. In the U.S. we have Michaels, JoAnn, and Hobby Lobby. Unfortunately you won’t find needlepoint patterns there. There’s Hobbycraft in the U.K. and they ship internationally!

We get a lot of supplies from online store 123Stitch.com for needlepoint and cross stitch. They are a good source for white 10 count and white 14 count plastic canvas which can be hard to find! They currently don’t carry a lot of patterns for plastic canvas projects, but a lot of smaller needlepoint and even cross stitch patterns can be converted for our use. They also ship internationally.

There are a lot of Leisure Arts booklets, but dang their website sure is hard to browse. Try to be specific when you use their search bar. And as far as we can tell, they do not sell supplies only kits and patterns.

Annie’s is a great online resource. They even have a category on their homepage just for plastic canvas! On their main site, Annie’s offers supplies (no white 14 count canvas tho) and patterns via print-to-order and digital download. They have an additional site at e-PatternsCentral that offers patterns only for digital download.

Oh! I’ve just added Amazon to the list. I had no idea that they had such a decent selection to choose from. This link will take you to their plastic canvas kits in long stitch.

Mary Maxim is another great online source that has plastic canvas as a category on their homepage. Nice! They have limited supplies but have fresh, modern patterns as well as kits for good prices.

You’ve probably received their catalog full of yarn and jigsaw puzzles, but did you know Herrschners also offers plastic canvas DIY kits? No patterns just kits, but that’s cool because the prices are good. And they have a wide range of supplies like lights and footstools as well as canvas. Just hover over the Needlework category and a drop-down box will appear that will take you directly to the plastic canvas products page.

Well you’d think with a name like EverythingPlasticCanvas.com you would be able to find everything plastic canvas. Alas, it is not so. There is no white 10 or even 14 count canvas to be found. Smh. To be honest, the patterns there feel a bit stale. We can’t be too hard on them though because take a look at this fancy boi Aunt Kelley stitched from their patterns.
