This is a year-to-date list of 2020 books on the art of punch needle. This needlecraft continues to rise in popularity with more books than the other categories! Getting good at it is one of Aunt Kelley’s goals in the new year. Happy stitching!
The Punch Needle Handbook: Easy Guide to Punching plus 19 Projects by Rohn Strong – well, the guide may be easy, but punch needle can me tricky sometimes. At least for me. I would agree that “It’s like paint by number…” after you get the hang of the “needle” itself. Rohn’s bio says he also works on WWI and WWII knitting history. Very cool!
Inspired by Mexican textiles, Vibrant Punch Needle Dècor: Adorn Your Home with Colorful Florals and Geometric Patterns by Melissa Lowry is itself inspiring. It seems like a lot of punch needle patterns have muted colors which definitely isn’t a bad thing! It’s just nice to have a ‘punch’ of color once in awhile ; )
What a relief! The fist punch needle book published in early 2020 is the Beginner’s Guide to Punch Needle Projects: 26 Accessories and Decorations to Embroider in Relief. Author and textile artist Juliette Michelet gives ideas on how to fully finish these projects. She also has a very pretty Instagram!
